once again, another month has gone by....

.....as I sit hear listening to Tony Barbas on his "Acoustic Sunrise" radio show on BXR, low and behold he plays a Hilary tune, "Daydreamer" from "Hypothermia"........what a difference the song sounds compared to the version the band is doing now. You can hear the maturity and intensity Hilary has gained in her delivery and performance of her songs.......it's been over 6 years since I first meet her in the studio's of KOPN 89.5, Columbia's Community RAdio Station. It was her second day in town and her and her future husband, Micheal were playing and doing an interview live on air. I heard the first song they played on my drive home and immediately turned around and headed up to the station. Something about the music and the sound just grabbed me and drew me to her......upon arriving I realized I knew who was playing percussion, not knowing Michael was the one, and it was a nice surprise.....after their interview , Micheal introduced me, and when we finally parted ,we had talked of getting together sometime to jam........sometime later,(the time line is a little foggy) I had invited them to play during a break, at Mojo's, where a band I was in was playing at....preceding their short set, she approached myself and Mike our bass player, and asked if we'd be on her record she was going to record, and that started the long fun road we have been traveling on ever since.......as we were working on learning the tunes she was going to do for the record, we were approached to play a gig at Mojo's, so with learning all of her tunes, we needed to learn a bunch more to fill up a 2-1/2 hour gig......so then it was confirmed, we were actually a true band backing Hilary.......besides us four, we had Jason on electric guitar and of coarse Griff on harmonica, (all of whom were on "The Floating World " cd ),.... a while later, Jason departed to continue his family life and Rob was asked to join on electric guitar , and then Loyd was asked to join up on drums, and this group was on "Come in, Come in Live". and this line up continues to this day. This is more than just a band, it's an extended family, considering the time spent traveling and playing gigs together, some more than others, but once we get loaded up in the van, the family is once again picking up where we left off last.......the great part of this entourage is, it can be a solo act with just Hilary, a duo , trio, quartet, any combination of any kind.....and for those of you that have had the chance to hear the many different combinations, you know each part is just as good as the whole, and each group has their own dynamics.........this is an amazing group of musicians and friends.........everyone has one purpose in mind, making Hilary and her music be the best it can be......and I hope you feel we do accomplish this.........a lot has been happening the past month or so, so I'll continue later with more......till then , thank you goes out to each of you who have included Hilary and her music to be a part of your life....without you, we would be just another nameless band going thru the motions, but becuase of you , we are who we are....and for that we all thank you very much....see you around....more later..B.A.
